The Capparelli Story
In 1954,
Frank Capparelli began a three-year stint in the Navy. He was stationed on the destroyer U.S.S. Putnam, and assigned to the after engine room, working on steam (which powered the ship), water, pumps, valves, and pipes. The
steam pressure was so high that steam leaking from a small hole could cut through a thick book like a knife.
In 1957, Frank returned to his hometown of State College, a young and growing community. Using his
Navy experience, he went to work on the plumbing crew for J. Alvin Hawbaker (the man who developed Park Forest Village). At the same time, Frank started working independently, serving his own plumbing customers on nights and
weekends.
In 1961, Frank left Hawbaker to run his own business full-time. Initially, most of his work was on residential buildings. By the 1970's, most of his jobs were commercial installations: restaurants,
stores, and other large projects. This focus on new commercial work continued until the late 1980's.
Over the years, Frank never forgot his regular service customers. Day or night, weekends or holidays, he
gave his customers fast, personal service. Capparelli Plumbing and Heating provides that same quality service today... "Ex-Speedy-ent with Experience."
In the 1970's, Frank's oldest son, Chris, was a youngster in school. Evenings, weekends, and holidays, Chris always loved to help Frank work on plumbing jobs. By the time he was in high school, Chris knew he wanted
to work in his father's business. After graduation, he went to business school to learn more about business management. Then he came on board as a member of Capparelli Plumbing and Heating.
In 1989, Frank
and Chris decided to shift the emphasis of their business to customer service. As always, they deal with all of their customers on a personal, one-to-one, basis. They listen to their customers' questions, and provide them with
the information to make sound decisions.
